Meet The Team

Alexis Bass, MA, LPC

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Licensed Professional Counselor

Have you noticed yourself feeling stuck...Experiencing a desire to grow but unsure in what way...Looking for someone to assist you in your personal growth...Or simply looking for a safe space to feel your feelings?
My name is Alexis Bass, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio; and if you’re feeling like these questions resonate, I’d love the opportunity to try to help you work through this.

I have a background in working with clients experiencing issues such as those listed above and much more. For the past couple years, I’ve worked in the field of substance abuse, which allowed me to gain experience in the areas of trauma, mental health issues (depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, etc.), life transitions, and overall confusion of life, purpose, and self. This provided me with the experience of working with marginalized and underrepresented populations as well as gaining experience in working with relationship dynamics, including families/couples and the lingering impacts these can have on us as individuals. Much of my work is based in a person-centered approach, expressed through unconditional positive regard for my clients by showing up genuinely with you in this space. I have experience with counseling approaches such as CBT, DBT, MI and ACT with a continued desire to grow and be flexible in my approach, in an attempt to cater to the diverse needs of my clients.

I believe that my clients are the experts of their own lives, even amidst the struggle to believe this idea themselves. My goal is to help my clients develop a deeper sense of trust, acceptance, and love for themselves, leading to an overall more satisfying and fulfilling life experience.

I understand that working with someone new in this manner, for the first time or even with experience in therapy, can be daunting. It can feel foreign, uncomfortable, or just plain scary, but taking that first step could be the thing that changes the trajectory of your life. If you feel you relate to any of this, I’d love the opportunity to work with you.

So, if you find yourself feeling stuck, confused, or just desiring a listening ear, let’s try to work through it together.

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Supervisor

Wherever you are in life, perhaps encountering a significant change or transition, managing a longstanding or recurring mental health condition, or hoping to shine your own light a little brighter, it would be my pleasure to walk with you on this part of your journey. As a Gestalt trained counselor, I support the individuals I work with to become aware of what they are doing, how they are doing it, and how to make space for change. This collaborative, holistic approach emphasizes self-acceptance and promotes awareness of the ways that unexamined thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can impede growth.

I have been a part of the behavioral health field in many different capacities for over 25 years. Equity is important to me, and I strive to stay aware of the inherent power and privilege in my role, as well as in many aspects of my identity. Effective therapy accepts and invites all aspects of your identity into the room. I consider myself an ally and accomplice to the LGBTQ+ community, and I am sex-positive and kink-affirming. I value and respect your lived experience. Feel free to reach out if you believe we would be a good fit.

Licensed Professional Counselor

Welcome! I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Ohio. My clinical background includes working with a diverse caseload of clients in a variety of different settings. As an Asian American and international adoptee, I am passionate about serving individuals from marginalized and historically underrepresented populations, especially members of the Global Majority and the LGBTQ+ community.

My counseling framework centers on the core concepts of Feminist Therapy and intersectionality. I take an integrated and person-centered approach that prioritizes the therapeutic relationship and emphasizes client agency and expertise. In sessions, I often draw from multiple modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, Family Systems, and various expressive and experiential activities.

In a safe and non-judgmental space, we will work alongside one another to identify the internalized impacts of culture, power, privilege, oppression, and societal expectations. Furthermore, we will discuss how our identities and unconscious group downloads collide with values, beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is my honor to support clients in their unique journey of deep self-exploration and healing.

Licensed Professional Counselor

I conceptualized counseling via a humanistic lens, as I believe that not one person has the same experience, thus my work emphasizes and celebrates the uniqueness of every person. By creating a supportive environment for all thoughts and feelings, I encourage my clients to be present as their authentic selves. Through an integration of narrative therapy, motivational interviews, and acceptance and commitment therapy, I am able to engage with my clients on topics related to their past, present, and future. Therefore, promoting insights and motivations to assist my client in determining how they wish to progress and enhance their lives through goal-oriented actions.

I practice counseling from a humanistic perspective, valuing people's intrinsic potential to move toward growth and healing. I collaborate with clients, providing the space and opportunity to explore the nature of their relationship with self and their relationship with others. I seek balance in my work. I respect that my work with clients often needs to shift fluidly between different approaches: practical concerns such as skills-building and decision-making, internal explorations of experience, and existential concerns regarding discovering or creating meaning and purpose.

Hello! I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of Ohio. I have had the privilege to work with clients and their families in a variety of settings. My experience includes work with folks experiencing domestic violence, adolescence, college students, body-positive community, members of the LGBTQ+ community, artists/ designers, and folks experiencing traumatic grief. I work with clients who have experienced various forms of trauma including childhood trauma, medical trauma, relationship trauma, spiritual trauma, complicated grief, trauma from the impact of diet-culture, and those experiencing systemic and cultural forms of trauma.

I believe the role of therapy to be a mutually created space of trust and unconditional positive regard. In this space, the client has the opportunity to explore their experiences and connect with all parts of themselves. I have an integrated approach that at its core is based in Person-Centered Therapy and includes elements of Expressive Arts Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy,  EMDR, and DBT. I trust that the client is the expert on themselves. I am deeply grateful to be a witness to my client's process of growth and healing.

It is my honor to create spaces for connection, healing, processing and growth. I believe that a therapeutic relationship between the client and the counselor is the foundation of therapy. It is my aim to engage with my clients in a way that turns them towards themselves to develop a trusting and empowered sense of self.
